What do you want to be when you grow up?

TRANSITIONING WITH THE TIMES
What do you want to be when you grow up? I can tell you I’ve done a little bit of everything!
From the time we are little we are constantly asked this question, as if we really know when we are 5 years old.. There may be a few of us who did know their calling early on in life and that is rare!
When I was 8 I wanted to be a veterinarian, although that dream did fade, I do still love animals and have 4 dogs (yea we are crazy!) I’ve also held numerous jobs throughout my life starting with babysitting. The moment I turned 16 I got my first real job at Roy Rogers (a fast food restaurant). After that I held numerous hostess, waitress, and even a bartending job. I’ve worked in retail, I worked at a deli counter, I worked at JIFFY LUBE!! I worked at DDI with children who had autism, I was a receptionist for an accountant (probably my least favorite), and then one day I got a job at a bakery drawing pictures on cake, this was my favorite out of them all.
And well now here I am! It’s been about 10 years since i started on this path of creating my own business and decorating cakes. This has been a year of many transitions for businesses and I am thankful to have had such a busy year. The biggest change you may have noticed was our business name and logo from Rachel’s Cakes to Frosted Artistry! We have also had adjust to the changes of smaller parties and celebrations this year by designing smaller cakes, selling a lot of cake jars, and creating a lot more custom cookies and cookie decorating kits (you guys love those!)
As we have had to adjust to these crazy times I have also been reflecting on what path I would like this business to go in and what I really love doing. What I really love is creating art, whether it's edible art (like cakes & cookies ) or just a painting, it's in those moments that I can just forget about time and get those creative juices flowing. I love presenting my clients with a cake and seeing the joy on their faces. In 2021 I want to bring to you even more incredible cake designs with videos and tutorials so that you can create them as well. I love doing in person classes and will continue to offer when possible. There are some limitations right now that makes this a bit more difficult but I hope you are willing to try these at home! I will be available for in person instructions for one on one, small groups and parties as well, these are a great way to learn a technique that you may be struggling with. Please feel free to suggest any classes that you would like to learn from the most simple ideas to something more complex, we all have to start somewhere!!
I also want to thank you all for another busy holiday season!! We do our best to try to accommodate everyone and I so appreciate your continued support and recommendations. I wish you and all of your family a new year filled with health and happiness!!
